There is no single national speed limit in the United States of America, because limits are set by each state and sometimes by local roads. In towns and built-up areas, limits are often 25 to 35 mph, on open rural roads they are commonly 55 to 65 mph, and on motorways or interstates they are usually 55 to 75 mph, with some western states allowing up to 80 or 85 mph. Always follow posted signs.
What does a typical rental car cost in United States of America per day?+
A normal compact rental in the United States of America often costs about €35 to €90 per day, before extras and local taxes. Prices move with the city, season, rental length, airport fees, insurance choices, and how close you book to pickup. Summer, holidays, and one-way rentals usually cost more.
What happens if I bring the car back late?+
Call the branch as soon as you know. Most suppliers allow a short grace period and then charge by the hour, up to a full extra day. Simply turning up hours late without a word is the expensive version, and on a long overrun the insurance can lapse.
Can I change or cancel my booking?+
Most rates can be canceled free of charge up to shortly before pick-up, and the deadline is written on the offer and in your confirmation email. Changing dates or times is usually possible too, though the price is recalculated at the rate available on the day you change it.

Child seats, boosters, navigation and extra insurance are added during booking or at the desk, and are charged per day. Reserving a child seat in advance is worth doing in school holidays, when branches genuinely run out.
What do I need to bring to the rental desk?+
A driving licence held for at least a year, a passport or identity card, the card the deposit will go on, and your booking reference. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it.
